Fancy Fold Christmas Card

Fancy Fold Christmas Card

During the past week, I have run a workshop demonstrating four fancy fold Christmas cards. In fact, the workshop extended into another session, as I didn’t take into account how much work we actually had to do! (Note to self, 2 fancy folds is enough in one session!)

This card is one of the ones we made. Probably the most technical and certainly a challenge to follow my own hand written instructions!

Lots of the materials were from the Whimsy and Wonder suite. I used 12 x 12 basic card stock for the base, but because it is not very stiff, I used lots of layers to help support it.

I wanted a cracker like feel to the card. The Basic edge dies were perfect to achieve this effect, and this is what took a lot of time….12 edges to die cut for each card!

I didn’t use Stampin’ Up! dies for the central aperture, as they were not big enough for it.

The gorgeous Whimsy and Wonder specialty designer series papers were used to decorate this fancy fold card. They are foiled on one side and so pretty. In fact they are so beautiful that its hard to decide which side to use, and in fact, some of the workshop attendees used the opposite side to what I used in my sample card. I stamped some of the Whimsical trees and the coloured baubles on to the central panel. To finish I added some Crystal Shimmery effects to make those pretty baubles shimmer.

Christmas is coming!

Christmas is coming!

You only have to look around the shops to know its ‘that time of year’ approaching!

The summer has flown by with holidays, grandchildren and the dreaded Covid, and also the redesigning of my website, but now a sort of normality is happening.

Craft groups are restarting, my Coffee and a Card group starts next Monday (contact me for more info), and today i’m working on upcoming workshops and thought it was time to share a Christmas card to get you all in the mood! So it was time to get playing with some of the new products I got back in July!

I’ve used the Whimsical Trees and co-ordinating Whimsy and Wonder papers, all available in the July to December mini catalogue. (Don’t have a copy? contact me – to get one sent out, UK only).

I heat embossed the snowflakes from the Penguin Place stamp set in silver to add more sparkle to the sentiment.

This is such a pretty set. Love the non traditional colours of the papers, some sheets are foiled (this one is but don’t think it shows too well in the photos, and that ribbon….Glittered Organdy ribbon, has beautiful shimmery tiny sequins embedded…it is gorgeous.

I am doing a ribbon share, so if you would like 1 metre of each of the 9 ribbons in the July-December mini catalogue, then get in touch…..they are not all Christmassy.

Circle Celebration Christmas card

Yes…it says Christmas card! This is the first one I’ve made this year, so think I can be excused!

I’ve done a couple of Facebook Lives using the Circle Celebration stamp set, and I’ve had the large stamp keep jumping out at me saying ‘moon’, so I thought I’d have a play and see what I could do.

I used a Seaside Spray card layer to stamp some trees from the ‘Rooted in Nature’ stamp set in memento black ink on the base of the card.

Then using one of the fabulous new blending brushes (Jan to June catalogue), I first used Misty Moonlight and then Night of Navy ink pads to give a little depth around the edges.

On a separate piece of white card I used Mango Melody, Flirty Flamingo and Highland Heather on the ‘moon’ stamp, carefully sweeping the ink pad across ensuring I used the lightest colour first so as not to contaminate my ink pads. When i had all three colours on the stamp, I gave it a quick ‘huff’ to ensure the ink was still wet and stamped onto my white card. I then die cut it with 4th from smallest layering circle die. This die is slightly smaller than the stamped image, but worked perfectly as I didn’t want a white border around my ‘moon’.

I then stamped the spotty stamp from the Dressed to Impress stamp set with Versamark ink, applied white embossing powder and heat set to give a snowy look. The sentiment was from Itty Bitty Christmas. The sentiment and moon where adhered on Dimensionals.

To finish, I used the Stampin’ Chalk Marker around the edges of the trees and also popped a little Wink of Stella to make them glisten.

Hope you’ve enjoyed learning how I made this card. Keep checking in for more.

In the meantime….keep Stamping!!

BLOG HOP WEEK 3… Playful Pets

I don’t think anyone would describe me as a cat or dog person. Although we have had both as pets over the many years we have been married.

Playful Pets Designer Series Paper

I got this Designer series paper (DSP) left over from a paper share, so though this a great opportunity to see what I can do with it.

I have made 3 projects this week, all with very little stamping, so making the DSP work do all the work for me.

The first card was cat themed and I used one cat from the DSP as my focal point and then adhered it to some fancy labels from the Tasteful labels die set

And then I played with the dogs…..

A LOT of fussy cutting here, but a cute card for the dog lovers out there!!

And finally I made a really useful, decent sized box! It is 4” square and I thought the colour scheme leant itself to being festive, so I added a Christmas tag to the front

Pop up Santa and friends

Hi all,

Just had another awesome Coffee and a Card at The Mallard, Westwood Lakes.  I appreciate that the times are not great (now moved to 12 til 1), due to being over lunch time, but I’m sure those who are starving after can either indulge in some gorgeous cake at the Mallard or grab lunch in the Fishermans Rest cafe!

Todays make was a special request, and it was far more involved than I would normally do for Coffee and a Card, but everyone one did a fabulous job and took home a beautiful pop up Santa card.

The Dsp used was a couple of years old and although there are some gorgeous DSP this year, I wanted the small print whimsical type papers.  There is paper to match the Santas Workshop Suite but I dont have it….Yes you read correct…there is something Stampin Up that I don’t have!!!

Dont forget the Black Friday Sale is still on until Wednesday 28th November, so get your orders in quick so you dont miss out.

Its Christmas!!

The second Monday each month, our Coffee and a Card focuses on Christmas.  I’m also still using discontinued DSP (Designer Series Paper) Be Merry….available while stocks last until the end of May, and I also used an old favourite of mine stamp set, unfortunately no longer available..Merry Mice.  The six ladies who joined me this week made this cute little pop up card;

and then we made a card using a bit of paper-folding, which proved far more challenging than I expected!  Again we used the discontinued DSP, and the sentiment this time was from the also no longer available set Christmas Quilt.

But there is more to life than discontinued product!  I have been busy making projects with the pre sell items I bought after April’s convention in Telford, ready for a catalogue launch party in June…details to follow as I havent got a venue yet! The new catalogue is available now to view.  If you would like a copy  please contact me

I Know ive mentioned it before but there is also an early release  suite available right now.  It’s the ‘Share what you Love ‘Suite, and has 3 different bundles depending on your budget and skills
