Pop up Santa and friends

Hi all,

Just had another awesome Coffee and a Card at The Mallard, Westwood Lakes.  I appreciate that the times are not great (now moved to 12 til 1), due to being over lunch time, but I’m sure those who are starving after can either indulge in some gorgeous cake at the Mallard or grab lunch in the Fishermans Rest cafe!

Todays make was a special request, and it was far more involved than I would normally do for Coffee and a Card, but everyone one did a fabulous job and took home a beautiful pop up Santa card.

Product List

The Dsp used was a couple of years old and although there are some gorgeous DSP this year, I wanted the small print whimsical type papers.  There is paper to match the Santas Workshop Suite but I dont have it….Yes you read correct…there is something Stampin Up that I don’t have!!!

Dont forget the Black Friday Sale is still on until Wednesday 28th November, so get your orders in quick so you dont miss out.

Rooted in Nature

Hi!   So my good thoughts about blogging more often went rapidly by the way side!!

But i’m here now and want to show you what I and the Coffee and a Card group have been upto.  This is from this week.

I’ve decided to concentrate on specific stamp sets and suites each week and I’m gonna pop more regular pictures on my facebook page using the same stamp set to hopefully give you inspiration.  I will also give you pictorial images linked to my shop which will hopefully make it easier for you to see what I’ve used.

Rooted In Nature Clear-Mount Bundle

As with many of Stampin Up! products, you save 10% by buying as a bundle – Rooted in Nature stamp set and Natures Root Framelit Dies.

The first two cards are the same layout, using the same stamp set, but different Designer Series Papers.  I love the autumnal colours, and ever card turns out different.  The tree was coloured with Stampin Write Markers, huffed on (to re activate the ink) and then stamped.

Product List

The second card using Rooted in Nature stamp set was an adaptation from a card by Debra Simonis which I found on Pinterest.  I used her card but added twine and an embellishment from the Natures Poem suite.

Hedgehugs

This weeks Coffee and a Card used the super cute Hedgehugs stamp set.

Hedgehugs Clear-Mount Stamp Set

Available as wood mount or clear mount, they are a lovely fun set, with some super sentiments!

Our first card had a squirrel hidden inside a tree!

A panel of Early Espresso card stock had a ‘hole’ punched in it at one end.  Laying this card onto a Very Vanilla card base, we drew around the circle with a pencil.  This showed us where to stamp the squirrel.  The Early Espresso card was then embossed using the Pinewood Planks Dynamic Embossing folder, and then attached over the stamped image.  The toadstools were stamped across the bottom in Cherry Cobbler ink and some discontinued ribbon was attached across the top.  The sentiment was stamped on Very Vanilla Card and then punched out.  It was mounted on a scalloped circle punched in either Cherry Cobbler, Garden Green or Early Espresso.  The top of this was scored, had redliner tape attached and ‘hinged’ over the squirrel.  Finally a bow was made in the same ribbon and attached centrally to the ribbon at the top of the card.

The second card was adapted from a card by Natalie Oshea.

The card base is soft suede, the flowers stamped with Early Espresso ink across the bottom. Next the two hedgehogs were stamped on Whisper White cardstock (using the stamparatus to ensure we could re-stamp if the ink didn’t cover well enough on the first stamping) again with Early Espresso ink.  The bodies were coloured with a caramel Promarker, and the flower coloured using a blender pen and Cherry Cobbler ink.  This panel was adhered to the card base and a strip of Burlap ribbon was attached to the bottom.

The sentiment and flower were stamped on Whisper White, punched with the 1 1/2″ circle punch, and mounted on a die cut circle of Early Espresso.  This was then added using dimensionals.

I know several hedgehog lovers and i’m sure this stamp will prove to be popular!

Lilypad Lake love!

New to the 2018/19 annual catalogue is the Lilypad Lake bundle. A beautiful set with water, boats, heron and some lovely words and the co ordinating dies.  It makes some stunning cards and we made two this morning at Coffee and a Card.

It was a pretty hectic morning with 7 people joining me, but as usual we had some fun and laughter and everyone went home with two lovely cards.

The first card used watercolour paper as the background, and after wetting the card three different colours using the ‘water’ stamp were stamped down covering all the card.  I used Pumpkin Pie at the top, then Daffodil Delight and finally Night of Navy.  This was then spritzed with water, removing any excess with kitchen paper.  We then set this to one side to dry.

The heron was die cut in black card as was the reeds using the ‘water’ framelit.  The water framelit then had its sides cut away, and the centre was snipped at random in half to give reeds.

The sun was die cut in Daffodil Delight and the flying birds were stamped onto the background in Memento.  These were from the High Tide Stamp set.  The card was assembled onto a black background before attaching to a whisper white card base.

The idea came from a card by Emma Goddard of Coastal Crafters.

The next card also used The Lilypad Lake bundle.  But this time the card had a more nautical theme and perfect for the sailor in your family!

We started with Balmy Blue base and using the cloud design from the Pattern Party Decorative Masks and Whisper White Ink, we sponged onto the Balmy BLue to give subtle clouded background.

The ‘sea’ was die cut in Pool Party, the ‘sun’ in Daffodil Delight, and the ‘yachts’ were stamped several times on Whisper White before colouring with a variety of pens (Stampin Blends and other) and then cut with the die.

The sentiment was from ‘Your Inspiring’ stampset, stamped in Balmy Blue on Whisper White card and die cut using one of the framelits from the bundle.  The edges of the sentiment were ‘dabbed’ in the balmy blue ink to edge it.

Its Christmas!!

The second Monday each month, our Coffee and a Card focuses on Christmas.  I’m also still using discontinued DSP (Designer Series Paper) Be Merry….available while stocks last until the end of May, and I also used an old favourite of mine stamp set, unfortunately no longer available..Merry Mice.  The six ladies who joined me this week made this cute little pop up card;

and then we made a card using a bit of paper-folding, which proved far more challenging than I expected!  Again we used the discontinued DSP, and the sentiment this time was from the also no longer available set Christmas Quilt.

But there is more to life than discontinued product!  I have been busy making projects with the pre sell items I bought after April’s convention in Telford, ready for a catalogue launch party in June…details to follow as I havent got a venue yet! The new catalogue is available now to view.  If you would like a copy  please contact me

I Know ive mentioned it before but there is also an early release  suite available right now.  It’s the ‘Share what you Love ‘Suite, and has 3 different bundles depending on your budget and skills

Open Stepper Card

This morning I watched a video tutorial of an open stepper card, which prompted me to ‘have a go’.  The tutorial was in inches, but I prefer to use cm’s  and although some of the measurements were converted, not all of them were.  For starters the card base was not a half A4, so as I don’t like wasting little bits from the edges, I have adapted it to metric, thus using half an UK A4  sheet to make it.

And this is the result!

7C3BA101-CE9B-419C-A533-6B6E0E4A191DI used Thick whisper white for the card base as this is nice and sturdy, and the discontinued (from the end of May) Elegant Eggplant card stock and ink.  The black and white DSP (Designer Series Paper) is from The Petal Passion series (also discontinued from end of May).

The Yellow flowers are die cut in Daffodil Delight with Garden Green stems, both from the Bouquet Bunch Framelits and the sentiment and stamped flowers are from the Beautiful Bouquet Stampset.   The ovals are die cut, but in this instance not with Stampin’ Up! product (as I have yet to buy them).

Bank Holiday Mondays Coffee and a Card will involve making this card.  If you fancy coming along, then please do…. The Mallard, Westwood Lakes, Boston UK!  (the original Boston!).

Thanks to Jan B Cards for the idea.

Coffee and a Card 16th April

3CC710D8-3351-4D7E-B574-9A857CBBD00DA lovely crafty morning at The Mallard, Westwood Lakes. The sun was shining, no coat needed and 3 lovely ladies for company.

For our first card we used ‘Flying Home’ stamp set from the Spring/Summer 2018 catalogue (only available til end of May).

We stamped in memento black onto  whisper white card stock and then used blender pens with ink pads to colour the card.  I used  some of the colours that are retiring this year….wild wasabi, rose red, perfect plum, pink pirouette and chocolate chip.  You can get lighter shades using this technique by picking up smaller amounts of ink and colouring on scrap paper until the ink has dispersed a little.

After colouring, we used some (very) old rose red ribbon across the front, and then mounted it onto some rose red cardstock.

The sentiment was done using the fabulous stamparatus….available from June, with another discontinued set Endless Birthday Wishes and this was stamped directly onto the card front, before mounting the rose red card on some dimensionals.

7B898054-7ED4-4E14-8648-931846DA0FC5

Our second card used Touches of Texture stamp set…a very versatile set in my opinion, with the sentiment from Teeny Tiny Sentiments.

A textured back ground was stamped in Crumb Cake ink onto the crumb cake card base.

The flower stem was stamped in Wild Wasabi, the 2 step flower in marina mist, the splattered background again in crumb cake and the bee in archival black, all onto a whisper white background.

After attaching this to the card, a strip of Burlap ribbon was added below the picture, a sentiment was stamped in marina mist and placed on top of the burlap with dimensionals.

For finishing touches a gold faceted gem was placed in the middle of the flower
